Meet the Trainer

Grace Lyons
Professional Riding Instructor & Horse Trainer

Grace Lyons has spent most of her life around horses, developing a deep respect for the partnership between horse and rider. With over 20 years of personal horse experience and more than a decade of professional teaching, Grace has built her program around the belief that strong horsemanship begins with understanding, patience, and clear communication.

Specializing in Western horsemanship, Grace focuses on helping riders build confidence while developing the practical skills needed to work effectively with their horses. Her teaching style emphasizes problem solving and encourages riders to understand not just what to do, but why they are doing it. By creating thoughtful and capable horsemen and horsewomen, she helps students develop skills that carry far beyond the arena.

Groundwork plays a central role in Grace’s approach. She believes that many challenges under saddle can be improved by first building a solid relationship on the ground. Through exercises that develop respect, trust, and clear communication, Grace helps horses and riders establish a strong foundation that leads to greater success and confidence in the saddle.

Grace has extensive experience working with beginner to advanced riders and youth involved in 4-H programs, and she enjoys helping new riders find their footing in the horse world. She is also a PATH CTRI (Certified Therapeutic Riding Instructor), which has shaped her thoughtful, adaptable teaching style and her ability to meet riders where they are in their learning journey.

Through her lessons and training programs, Grace strives to create an environment where both horse and rider can grow together. Her goal is not only to help riders improve their skills, but to build confidence, deepen understanding, and develop lasting partnerships between horse and rider.

My Approach

At Flying Lyons LLC, strong riders are built through connection and communication. I believe that when riders understand how their horses think and respond, they can communicate clearly, solve problems effectively, and ride with confidence.

By combining solid groundwork with thoughtful riding, my program focuses on building trust, respect, and consistency between horse and rider. The goal isn’t just to improve skills in the saddle, but to develop riders who can think, adapt, and create a true partnership with their horse.

Flying Lyons LLC is built on the belief that strong horsemanship creates confident riders and willing partners. Based in Arvada, Colorado, the program focuses on Western horsemanship, practical training, and developing a solid foundation through both groundwork and riding. Through lessons, training, and clinics, Flying Lyons LLC aims to create a supportive learning environment where riders can grow their skills, strengthen their relationship with their horses, and develop confidence both in and out of the saddle.
